Sales Manager - Animal Health International

Job Summary

As a Sales Manager, for Animal Health International you will direct and supervise a geographically dispersed outside salesforce to ensure outstanding customer service, accurate order entry and processing, collaboration between the production animal commercial and operational functions, and to generate sales growth per the annual budget.  You will play the key role in developing and executing strategies to drive growth and profitability of your region.

Essential Functions

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop and execute the Annual Operating Plan consisting of sales targets, sales and marketing plans, and operating expense budgeting

  • Analyze and evaluate sales activities as well as market trends and customer needs for sales optimization

  • Assist the outside salesforce in developing target markets and identifying opportunities

  • Business plan development at the sales rep level and support of sales force toolkits

  • Assist operational managers in planning and execution of delivery routes, to ensure operational costs are kept within budgeted parameters

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the appropriate objectives and priorities are enabled within the sales organization

  • Define and evaluate issues, develop methods, and revise procedures within established policies

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Customer Focus and Manufacturing Partner Relations

  • Establish relationships within the animal health industry at the management level to facilitate growth opportunities

  • Be personally involved and invested in the relationships with top customers in the region

  • Develop and maintain strong manufacturer relationships and identify new opportunities and partners

  • Work with Purchasing in monitoring product purchases, inventory levels and pricing, forecasting, and identifying new opportunities

People Management

  • Encourage the growth of all direct and indirect reports through skill development and goal setting

  • Hold direct reports accountable for meeting performance standards and departmental performance goals

  • Mentor employees, measure performance, and complete regular performance reviews

  • Resolve employee issues in an effective and consistent manner

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Poultry Science, Animal Science, Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with a proven track record in sales

  • Thorough knowledge of the animal health industry

  • Prior experience in customer service and dealing directly with customers in a sales capacity.

  • Prior knowledge of sales and asset management.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Financial management experience. 

  • Computer proficiency including SAP and Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience

  • SAP experience

Travel and On-call

This position will require travel as directed by business unit needs, which may include travel to company and customer locations in providing services and support.


The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $105,200.00 - $132,700.00
