The Software Engineer III's role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of the achievement of Patterson software requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Software Engineer III will also lead the research, design, documentation and modification of software specifications throughout the development life cycle.
Essential Functions
Software Development
* Collaborate with clients, developers and other team members in the conceptualization and development of new or existing software applications.
* Define, develop, and document software business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
* Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users and stakeholders.
* Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as needed.
* Execute software testing on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors and general debugging.Agile Team Work
* Participate in and may lead the definition of software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
* Perform and may lead program turnover to production support and customers upon completion of development, testing, and documentation.
* Help mentor Software Engineer peers through technical advice and reference.Technologies

Essential Functions: Animal Health - Companion
Architect secure, scalable orchestration across agents, servers, and cloud APIs.
Lead reverse engineering efforts to uncover undocumented PiMS behaviors and optimize data flow interactions.
Design PCI-compliant workflows for payment initiation, reconciliation, and exception handling.
Mentor junior engineers on automation, integration, and secure coding practices.
Drive cross-functional collaboration with product and compliance to align with PayFac and PCI standards.
Establish reusable frameworks and best practices for future PiMS integrations.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or area of functional responsibility or equivalent education and/or experience
5 years programming experience required. Should have prior experience within various platforms and languages
Experience using front-end web technologies – Angular
Experience building scalable applications using fundamental design principles
Preferred Requirements
Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps
Experience with Playwright, Selenium, or browser automation tools
Prior experience integrating with veterinary, dental, or medical PiMS systems.
Reverse engineering experience (Win32 APIs, packet inspection, system hooks).
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of all aspects of application development and project life cycles, including Agile applications
Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices
Fluency in object oriented programming and design
Extensive database and operating systems experience
Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products
Ability to develop and maintain software products written in different languages and platforms
Familiarity with corporate governance, business cases, and return on investment concepts.
Understanding of best practices for building applications with peak performance and reliability - Familiarity with Agile processes and scrum
Extensive experience in C# - Experience using .Net framework
Comfortable reading SQL traces, inspecting HTTP traffic, and automating Windows UI elements.
Familiar with payment concepts like tokenization, chargebacks, settlement, merchant onboarding, and 3-DSecure.
Fluent in at least one modern programming language (C#, Python, or JavaScript).

The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $109,100.00 - $136,300.00
