Job Summary

The Field Software Support Technician delivers on-site installation, configuration, and support of company software solutions at customer locations. This role supports successful system adoption through routine troubleshooting, customer training, and technical assistance while working within established procedures and under direct supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Install, configure, and support company software applications at new and existing customer sites to ensure systems operate according to defined specifications and service standards

  • Respond to assigned customer service calls to diagnose and resolve routine software, system, and basic network-related issues using established procedures and escalation protocols

  • Prepare for and perform standard system installations, validating functionality through testing of software, hardware, and supporting components

  • Provide routine technical assistance and user training to customers to ensure proper system operation and effective use of installed software

  • Deliver post-installation and post-repair support, serving as a technical resource for customer questions and standard issue resolution

  • Accurately complete all required service forms, records, and documentation related to installations, repairs, and support activities

  • Maintain professional customer relationships by providing responsive, courteous, and solution-focused technical support while on-site

  • Comply with Company and department policies and standards; performs other duties as assigned

Additional Functions

  • Prepare lists of required equipment, software, and materials for scheduled installations and service requests

  • Use, maintain, and secure test devices, tools, and company-provided equipment used to support software and system performance

  • Support inventory management by monitoring equipment condition at customer sites and maintaining vehicle inventory through regular restocking

  • Promote employee and customer safety by following safe driving practices and ensuring company vehicles and assets are properly maintained

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a computer-related field, accreditation from a technical school, or applicable skilled trades program

  • Experience installing or supporting software applications in a customer-facing environment

  • Experience with basic networking concepts and Windows operating systems

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software systems

  • Ability to install, configure, and support software applications by following documented procedures

  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to software, systems, and connectivity issues

  • Effective oral and written communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document technical work

  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users

  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines while contributing as part of a team

  • Time management skills to prioritize service activities and meet customer commitments

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires regular local travel to customer sites
