Sourcing Intern
Primary Location Loveland, Colorado Job ID R108403 ApplyThe Sourcing Intern will play a key role in supporting sourcing initiatives by assisting in supplier research, cost analysis, and distribution agreements while leveraging data analytics to drive sourcing decisions. This role provides exposure to supplier negotiations, contract management, and product research, as well as opportunities to collaborate across supply chain, inventory, and procurement functions. The intern will gain hands-on experience in analyzing market trends, evaluating product opportunities, and supporting sourcing strategies that align with company objectives, particularly margin optimization and product expansion.
Essential Functions
- Assist in identifying and researching potential new suppliers to expand the company's product offerings.
- Support cost analysis and competitive benchmarking to aid in supplier negotiations.
- Help evaluate new product opportunities by gathering sales, demand, and market data to assess feasibility.
- Work with the Sourcing Manager to prepare and analyze supplier scorecards and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making.
- Utilize data analytics tools (Excel, Power BI, or Tableau) to visualize sourcing trends and purchasing patterns.
- Collaborate with inventory and supply chain teams to understand supplier lead times, order fulfillment, and impact on inventory planning.
- Participate in ad hoc projects related to sourcing strategy, cost savings initiatives, and operational efficiency improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics, Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic modeling) and familiarity with PowerPoint for presentations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Interest in procurement, supplier negotiations, and supply chain operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Basic knowledge of contract management and supplier relationship management.
- Passion for the animal health industry or prior experience in distribution or sourcing roles.
