Benefits Manager

Job Summary

Designs, develops and oversees all employee health, welfare, paid-time off and leave programs.  Makes recommendations for new, revised and/or improved benefit plans.  Assures program compliance with all legal requirements at federal, state and local levels.

  • Develops, recommends and oversees the design and administration of all employee health, welfare and leave programs to ensure offerings are competitive and cost effective.

  • Lead the benefits team on vendor management and oversight to ensure close partnership and alignment of deliverables.

  • Approves operational procedures and maintenance of benefit programs.

  • Oversees the proper documentation of various benefit programs, processes, and records as well as identify controls to ensure programs are managed according to plan rules and policies.

  • Identifies benefit analytics to better understand program utilization, gaps, training and communication needs.

  • Supports regulatory compliance on all benefit plans and advises management on fiduciary matters. 

  • Lead the benefits team in partnering with HRIS to leverage system for process automation and program management, including providing user requirements and user acceptance testing.

  • Works closely with key stakeholders to align benefit programs with the overall defined Total Rewards philosophy and strategy.

People Management

  • Manages direct reports including the hiring, development, performance management, goal setting, and other managerial duties.

  • Ensures direct reports are aware of and follow established business policies, practices, and Company’s Code of Conduct to create a supportive and productive working environment.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field

  • At least 8 years of experience in Human Resources, Benefits, or related.

  • At least 3 years people management experience with a strong focus on team collaboration

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in benefits program design and administration, plus a strong focus on project management and communications

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suites (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Experience working in a COE/Business-Partner HR operating model

  • Experienced with managing benefit programs and setup with an HRIS platform (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CEBS or CBP designation is strongly preferred
  • Familiar with Workday absence and benefits modules
