Compensation Analyst

The Compensation Analyst is responsible to provide design, consulting and operational support Patterson’s broad-based compensation programs including base salary administration, annual focal review (merit) and short-term incentives. This position will assist with stock plan administration and participate in compensation projects. Ensure that programs are communicated and administered effectively and efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement and administer base pay and broad-based incentive plans, primarily for U.S-based employees, including job evaluations, market pricing, annual salary planning, incentive plan data management and incentive award calculations.

  • Provide consulting and counsel to HR and Talent Acquisition staff in the administration of total cash compensation for new hires, job changes and ad hoc pay adjustments. Consult and use expertise to solve compensation-related issues.

  • Assist with the administration of equity-based program(s) to include processing grants, exercises, and vestings.

  • Maintain base pay structures through benchmark evaluations and monitoring structure movement projections to include geographic wage differentials for company work locations; partner with HR Technology to update HCM accordingly.

  • Participate in compensation benchmark and salary planning surveys; analyze competitiveness and make recommendations for plan design enhancements.

  • Assist the Compensation Manager in the design, modeling, costing, implementation and communication of new or revised compensation programs.

  • Develop, document, and/or evaluate processes to streamline workflow while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Company compensation plan provisions

  • Deliver compensation/rewards-related training to HR and line managers to enhance understanding of Patterson’s compensation philosophy, policies and programs; assist with development and enhancements to compensation education resources.

  • Proactively evaluate and recommend process and technology improvements to enhance the reliability and efficiency of administration of compensation programs and data

  • Maintain and apply up-to-date knowledge of pay-related laws, regulations and industry trends in order to manage Patterson’s risk of non-compliance and to promote the use of best practices.

  • Oversee the Compensation inbox to ensure timely research and responses to Compensation inquiries such as stock plan participation, pay structures, incentive payments and programs, job evaluations, etc.

  • Assist with SOX compliance, audits and controls; maintain and provide supporting documentation for internal and external auditors as needed

  • Cross-train and backup to other Compensation team members as needed and participate in  HR and compensation projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, or other business-related field

  • At least 3 years of related compensation or human resources experience

  • Fundamental understanding of compensation programs including base pay and incentive administration, market pricing, and consulting principles

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, HR system such as Workday

  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting compensation design and administration

  • Strong analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

  • Time management skills to meet deadlines;  ability to work with tight deadlines, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities

  •  Strong business ethics including the protection of proprietary and confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred

  • Experience with sales compensation preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish with minimal supervision

  • HCM reporting experience.


The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $68,300.00 - $83,600.00
