Job Summary

Requires an enthusiastic collaborator with a track record of success in insurance and claims management to interface with supervisor, colleagues, and partners to build a “best-in-class” risk management program. Provides support for the administration, analysis, research and tracking of company exposures, claims and other insurance-related matters. Assists with reconciliation of insurance invoices and ledger accounts. Manages the tracking and compiling of claims data, through data analytics, stewardship reviews, key performance indicators and internal documents for use in claims reduction, cost efficiencies and safety efforts. Assists in developing policies and procedures and working with other departments to optimize Patterson’s risk management program and reduce losses.

  • This role will assist with overseeing the day-to-day management of corporate insurance, including involvement in the annual renewal processes.

  • Provide management of claims (work comp, auto, product liability, general liability, property and cargo) to realize cost efficiencies, provide assistance to claimants, and bring claims to closure

  • Manage systems and process for administration, analysis, research and tracking of claims, including Claim Reviews and Stewardship Meetings

  • Oversee vendor relationships, especially related to claims management (TPA, nurse triage, claims consulting)

  • Assist with reconciliation of insurance invoices and perform accounting as it relates to budgeting, insurance accruals and account reconciliations, and allocations – including adherence to any Sarbanes Oxley control processes

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls in place for risk and insurance programs

  • Build strong internal and external partner relationships

  • Serve as a liaison between finance and the business by establishing and communicating policies and procedures and maintaining open active lines of communication.  This includes partnering with the regulatory, human resource, legal and fleet management departments.

  • Act as an internal resource to Patterson employees, departments, leaders, and field locations for matters related to claims and insurance

  • Provide supervision and development for a team of internal Insurance and Claims Analysts

  • Perform on-going review of company policies, legal compliance, contract language and insurance policies to minimize risk, including for claims compensability and closure authority

  • Facilitate training, postings and materials for internal education

  • Ensure compilation, tracking and dissemination of OSHA logs for shared use with Safety leaders

  • Track key performance indicators and compile claims analytics to provide to key stakeholders internally and externally

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Manages direct reports including the hiring, development, performance management, goal setting, and other managerial duties.

  • Ensures direct reports are aware of and follow established business policies, practices, and Company’s Code of Conduct to create a supportive and productive working environment.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of related professional experience in the field of claims, litigation, or insurance

  • Minimum of 3 years management experience

  • Must have a thorough understanding of insurance-related legal procedures, regulations and claims processing

  • Must have a strong general understanding of business administration, human resources and benefit programs, safety and worker’s compensation, and litigation process

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Skill Requirements:

  • Customer service oriented

  • Strong accounting skills, experience with risk management information systems preferred

  • Orientation towards process and procedures.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels in the organization

  • Collaborative working style and strong interpersonal skills

  • Advanced computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and video conferencing platforms
