Senior Director, Governance, Delivery and Architecture

As a key leader on the Corporate Technology team reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will own a multi-faceted role that will lead Governance of strategic initiatives, evolve the Patterson Corporate Technology delivery model, and establish Business Architecture practices. Critical to this role is building relationships with leaders across the enterprise, providing great experiences and amazing business outcomes. Essential Functions

Portfolio Management

  • Advises leadership at the highest levels about the portfolio, status, and resource planning for delivering strategic business initiatives.

  • Leads the Patterson Governance Board and convenes the Executive Leadership to develop priorities and ensure expectations are well aligned.

  • Ensures project charters are aligned with company goals, have consistent and valid business cases, clear funding requirements, and measurable outcomes.

  • Manages risk within initiatives and across the portfolio, reporting risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.

  • Collaborates with Delivery teams in managing the portfolio and managing expectations with the business.

Process Management

  • Establishes, and maintains a standardized framework for program, project management and agile best practices

  • Enhances enterprise delivery methods to focus on optimal scope and speed to maximize outcomes and benefits

  • Establishes metrics and deploys tools that manage and track the delivery lifecycle as appropriate for the delivery methodology; capacity, budget adherence, and outcomes.

  • Defines and Measures ongoing value of initiatives being brought by Corporate Technology. 

  • Develops and influences the culture of continuous improvement of delivery methodologies.

  • Assumes a leadership role in educating the business and technical community on Program, Project, Product and Agile principles and processes.

  • Partners with enterprise leaders to establish and maintain regulatory, compliance and operating governance

  • Partners with M&A teams to support diligence and drive integration of acquired assets.

Architecture

  • Establishes and lead a newly formed Business Architecture practice.

  • Creates an intake process for strategies, ideas and technology needs across the enterprise.

  • Ensures Architects across Corporate Technology are aligned and informed on strategies and capabilities.

  • Convenes Architects and Technology Leaders to facilitate Technology Roadmap decision process.

  • Oversees Technology RFP/RFI process to ensure Architecture and Roadmap needs are being fulfilled.

People Management

  • Manages direct reports including the hiring, development, performance management, goal setting, and other managerial duties.

  • Ensures direct reports are aware of and follow established business policies, practices, and Company’s Code of Conduct to create a supportive and productive working environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or area of functional responsibility preferred, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

  • At least 12 years of Project and/or Program Management experience, with at least 6 years of people leadership.

  • Experience using project management tools and methodologies, including Agile or Kanban

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in executing large, complex and concurrent Technology initiatives, projects, and programs

  • Experience or deep understanding of Product Models

  • Experience leading change and acting as an agent for change throughout the Enterprise

  • Ability to establish trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.

  • PMP Certified preferred

  • Agile Certified preferred
