The Senior SAP Engineer is accountable for the delivery & implementation of products or projects, including design, development, documentation, and testing to support the successful implementation of new or changed software applications. The Senior Engineer is also responsible for introducing and maintaining software development best practices, standards, and processes, assisting in change and release management activities and mentoring employees.

The senior engineer in Enterprise Business Services will drive the design, implementation, and optimization of solutions in our SAP systems.  As a technical expert, you will bring deep expertise in SAP architecture, development and integration frameworks while supporting cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical expertise to deliver solutions quickly, have the ability collaborate with and influence stakeholders, and exhibit a commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Define the solution architecture, ensuring scalability, security, usability, and maintainability.  Deliver the design for and deployment of integrated end-to-end solutions; facilitate integration with other IT delivery team members to ensure efficient and effective design, development and implementation of solutions.

  • Deliver high-quality code in adherence to best practices and DevOps mindset.  Define and implement the technical solution for the product, collaborating as necessary to choose appropriate technologies, architectures, and tools to align with business objectives.

  • Review functional specifications for solutions, utilize coding/configuration/integration standards, perform reviews, and utilize and define best practices.  Provide input to architecture, security, and data standards; ensure end-to-end solutions adhere to these standards.

  • Act as a go-to person for resolving complex technical issues. Be able to debug/analyze most complex issues.

  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes and tooling by staying informed of industry and technology trends, innovation, and platform roadmaps.  Evaluate new tools or methodologies and propose improvements or new features.

  •  Develop and implement best data organization, storage, and retrieval practices, optimizations. Works closely with data and integration architects to ensure seamless and efficient data integration processes.  Troubleshoots and resolves data integration issues, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.Identifies and addresses performance bottlenecks in queries and data processing.

  • Ensure code & systems are efficient and optimized for performance.

  • Ensure all SAP solutions comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and security protocols.

  • Create comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures. 

  • Transition support after project implementation to the support organization through documentation and knowledge transfer. Provide technical expertise required to resolve escalated support issues. As needed, provide technical leadership in support of audit requests

Leadership & Team Management

  • Help junior and mid-level engineers grow their technical and problem-solving skills.  Guide complex fit/gap analysis and design decisions and validate fit/gap analysis and design decisions completed by less experienced team members; ensure deviations from “out of the box” functionality have sufficient business justification and positive value proposition 

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align goals and priorities.  Interface with third-party vendors for technical consulting during solution design, development, and ongoing support.  Facilitate estimates for time and resource needs of identified solutions Provide technical solution consultation for major decision points on projects.

  • Provide regular and accurate status updates and other documentation to management and team members for assigned project, support, and enhancement work.

  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration and dependencies are managed.  Provide direction into planning/sequencing.

Strategic & Business Alignment

  • Work with business and product teams to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives and customer needs.

  • Identify potential technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Stay updated on new technologies and trends to keep the team and company competitive.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

·Bachelors in computer science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience.

REQUIRED DOMAIN QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Qualifications:

5+ Years of Experience & Technical Expertise in:

  • SAP development, including ABAP, Fiori/UI5, and SAP integration frameworks.

  • SAP Basis, security, and performance optimization.

  • SAP and other iPaaS integration Platforms (Integration Suite, LogicApps, , PI/PO, APIs, IDocs)

Additional experience:

  • Experience with SAP S/ 4HANA, ERP modules, and system customization.

  • Proficiency in cloud technologies (Azure, or SAP BTP) and CI/CD pipelines for SAP development.

  • Understanding data management, including SAP HANA, SQL, and reporting tools. 

  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and platform best practices.

  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance optimization skills.

  • Ability to analyze across a range of platforms and applications and see interconnections between organizational systems.

  • Deep knowledge of SAP solutions covering Wholesale Distribution, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance

  • 5+ years of Experience working in SAP providing technical mentorship, and guiding solution design.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and task follow-up skills in a fast-paced and changing environment. Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner and meeting assigned deadlines.

  • Deep understanding of enterprise IT strategy, aligning SAP initiatives with business goals.

  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions.

  • Proven ability to drive process improvements, ensuring SAP platform efficiency and reliability.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience collaborating with project teams, mentoring junior developers, and driving technical excellence.

  • Experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management driving iterative improvements and delivery efficiency.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-resolution skills, especially in high-impact scenarios.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, working with business users, product managers, and IT leadership.

  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, with experience working with teams from varied backgrounds.

  • Ability to evaluate and negotiate priorities and adapt to new/evolving individual and team assignments as adjustments are needed.

  • Maintains a positive work environment through teamwork & conflict resolution

  • Understanding business objectives and ability to align technical decisions with company goals.

  • Ability to evaluate trade-offs between technical debt, innovation, and business needs.


The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $106,400.00 - $133,000.00
