Dolphin Imaging Systems has a great opportunity available for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team working remotely. 

Dolphin Imaging Systems, LLC (a division of Patterson Companies, a Fortune 500 company) provides imaging, diagnostic, and practice management software solutions for dental-specialty practices and institutions. 

The selected candidate will join a team of talented software engineers in the Dolphin Software Organization working on Dolphin’s web hosted imaging and practice management software, Dolphin Blue.  The Sr. Software Engineering role will be inclusive of product and systems design, development, testing, changes and upgrades, regulatory compliance, and product and systems support and maintenance. The Sr. Software Engineer plays a critical role in application delivery and release management activities and ensures that code development, processes and feature delivery provide value realization for our customers, maintaining our longstanding market leadership.    

The Senior Software Engineer defines, develops, tests, analyzes, and maintains software applications. This includes being involved in understanding the business impact of the necessary work and creating solutions to realize that impact by leading research, design, documentation, and modification of software specifications throughout the development life cycle.  

Strong candidates will have a deep understanding of monolith decomposition and migration to cloud and microservice architectures. Experience with best practices and design patterns that take advantage of modern DevOps and automation systems is key.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, developers and other team members in the conceptualization and development of new or existing software applications.    

  • Define, develop, and document software objectives, deliverables, and specifications in collaboration with internal users and departments. 

  • Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external users and stakeholders.   

  • Recommends new technologies, approaches, and best practices for their team or product wide adoption.  

  • Perform software testing on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors and general debugging.

  • Ensure software performs optimally through active monitoring for performance and usage.  

  • Participate in and may lead the definition of software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.   

  • Deploy software through environments to production upon completion of development, testing, and documentation.   

  • Conduct code reviews based on team’s defined best practices

  • Mentor software peers for engineering best practices and technical excellence.  

  • Provide and may lead product and software support for bugs, issues, and escalated incident tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues.   

  • Partner with other Engineers in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.  

  • Responsible for complex software aspects of your team or technical domain as a subject matter expert or owner of a service or functionality.  

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS 

In addition to the essential functions listed above, the incumbent may perform the following additional functions.   

  • Participate in regulatory and compliance activities.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent work experience   

  • 5+ years of software development experience required, with experience in all aspects of software development and product life cycles.  

  • Software design in the modern, cloud-based world including deconstructing monolithic legacy applications and migrating from on-premises to cloud.

  • Demonstrated experience within numerous modern platforms, frameworks, and languages. 

  • Knowledge of all aspects of application development and product life cycles, including agile approaches. 

  • Excellent understanding of software development and engineering best practices. 

  • Proficient experience with cloud-hosted application design, deployment, and maintenance.  

  • Proficiency in modern SaaS engineering principles and familiarity with enterprise-class cloud development technologies, languages and platforms, as well as demonstrated understanding of 12 Factor App Methodology.

  • Experience with both front-end (FE) and back-end (BE) componentization building modular and scalable applications.  

  • Deep expertise in the Microsoft .NET tech stack, including but not limited to ASP.NET, C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, and various front-end technologies. 

  • Extensive database and operating systems experience. 

  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products. 

  • Ability to develop and maintain software products written in different languages and platforms. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Significant experience building public facing, highly scalable SaaS software products and services. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or equivalents (AWS, GCP, etc.).  

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalents (Jira, GitHub, etc.)  

  • Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.  

  • Experience with service-oriented design, micro-services and event-driven architecture. 

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Blazor, XAML, Xamarin or Razor.    

  • Knowledge of browser-based 3D rendering including WebGL and HTML5 

  • Expertise in 3D graphics, shaders, vector math 

  • Working understanding of level of detail when visualizing large data sets 

Working Environment

  • Office environment – either in Patterson facility or at home/remote location

The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount could exceed this range, based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills.

$120,000 - $140,000
