Responsible for administrative, accounts payable, financial and human resources functions within the distribution center. Follows appropriate guidelines for these functions.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Supervises office staff and office functions, directing workflow and delegating tasks;
Works with the Distribution Center Manager to address office staff performance and workload issues;
Processes local payables and monitors distribution center expense accounts
Oversees accounts payable and account reconciliation processes;
Coordinates recruiting, hiring, safety training, new employee orientation, and benefit programs for the distribution center personnel;
Processes personnel data and manages personnel files;
Initiates and manages workers' compensation claim cases, including accident reports and OSHA reports;
Develops and maintains working knowledge of Company benefit programs and functions as the distribution center's resource for employee benefits questions;
Develops and maintains a competent understanding of Federal, State and Local laws applicable to distribution center personnel and operations;
Develops and maintains a competent understanding of Patterson Companies personnel policies to assist with compliance of the distribution center;
Review and submit payroll variance report.
Other Functions
Maintains the housekeeping and sanitation standards of the distribution center;
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Office environment and may occasionally need to enter warehouse.
The distribution center is a warehouse for the storage and distribution of dental, medical and veterinary supplies and equipment. In general, the building's primary work area consists of pallet storage racking, roller storage and small item storage shelving. The facility uses powered conveyor systems for the transportation of products. Pallet jacks and forklifts are used for palletized products. Some positions require use of safety equipment, which is provided as needed.

Education/Training & Skills
Associate degree or equivalent work experience is required. Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Accounting is desired.
Ability to read, understand and administer the company's Human Resources and administrative policies and procedures;
Highly competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite;
Knowledge of filing systems and familiarity with standard office equipment;
Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task, as well as delegate and direct workflow;
Ability to develop trust and rapport with employees, and maintain confidentiality;
Possess effective customer service skills;
Knowledge of federal, state and local laws applicable to distribution center personnel and operations;
Ability to recognize individual's strengths and weaknesses for hiring and performance evaluations of office staff;
Ability to evaluate procedures and initiate improvements;
Ability to process local payables and comprehend financial statements.
Relevant Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years office experience;
Human Resources and accounting experience;
Orientation and classroom training experience.
