Operations Manager

Patterson Dental Vancouver branch is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our fast-paced team. As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the supervision of the Branch operational functions to ensure efficiency and profitability in order to achieve the Branch’s objectives. You will also serve as the Branch authority on company policies and procedures relative to investments and expense control, customer service and general administration.

Major Duties:

  • Reports to and works closely with the Branch Manager to ensure goals and objectives are met.

  • Oversees all aspects of the Branch from an operational perspective and provides interpretation and training for all policies and procedures as necessary for Branch personnel.

  • Responsible for all personnel in every department excluding Sales and technician team.

  • Records all vacation and sick time, and submits time sheets to Head Office bi-weekly.

  • Maintains and forwards the Vacation schedule and Organization Chart to the Branch Manager on a monthly basis.

  • Ensures that each employee understands his/her particular responsibilities and works with the employee to ensure he/she has the tools required to do the job properly.

  • Responsible for all sourcing, hiring, training and development, performance reviews, promotions, transfers and terminations of the Inside Staff with the Branch Manager's approval.

  • Direct Supervisor to the Customer Service Department.

  • Oversees all departments to ensure superior customer service while delivering a profit to the branch.

  • Ensures appropriate and accurate information is passed on to employees for fulfillment of their responsibilities.

  • Assists the Branch Manager with the annual budget process.

  • Evaluates Branch financial performance to identify areas of opportunity.  This includes designing and implementing any action steps to correct deficiencies.

  • Acts as authority over investment and expense control, customer service, general administrative policies and procedure and department standards.

  • Establishes adequate control procedures.

  • Coordinates and oversees the annual physical inventory at the Branch, works closely with the Equipment Department to maintain the inventory at acceptable levels throughout the year.

  • Complies with all federal and local agency requirements.

  • Works with the IT Department on all computer issues at the Branch.

  • Handles all issues related to the Branch phone system.

  • Maintains the Branch office to make sure that the office appearance is kept clean and professional looking at all times.

  • Periodically attends seminars and training sessions offered by the Branch to its customers to strengthen customer relations.

  • Performs other tasks as requested or assigned.

Job qualifications:

  • College diploma in General Business & Accounting or equivalent.

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory position or similar role.

  • Related dental industry knowledge is a plus.

  • Versatility in general accounting tasks.

  • Teamwork oriented.

  • Detail oriented and able to take initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also necessary.

  • General computer proficiency including knowledge of MS Office is required (Word and Excel).

  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment and excellent decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
