Job Summary

We’re passionate, focused, and always advancing—and we’re looking for a dynamic Dolphin Software Trainer to join our team.  As a Dolphin Trainer, you’ll empower orthodontic practices by delivering engaging training on Patterson’s Dolphin software suite—both cloud-based and on-premise. You’ll help offices streamline operations, improve workflows, and enhance patient care through expert instruction and support.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver customized software training for new and existing customers, both virtually and onsite, using techniques tailored to individual learning styles and modern technology.

  • Independently manage multiple customer training plans, adjusting content and delivery methods as needed to ensure effective learning.

  • Present data conversion evaluations and set realistic expectations for software implementation, making autonomous decisions to support customer success.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, assisting offices in customizing Dolphin software to meet unique practice needs and troubleshooting software, hardware, and digital components.

  • Analyze customer data using key performance indicators and recommend product features or workflow improvements to business owners and office managers.

  • Represent Patterson professionally at events such as trade shows, study clubs, and lunch-and-learns, showcasing the value of Dolphin products.

  • Document training sessions, track customer interactions, report installation issues, and submit expense reports using Patterson tools and systems.

  • Provide post-training support to ensure customer satisfaction and successful adoption of the software.

  • Contribute to team and departmental goals by demonstrating accountability and commitment to shared outcomes.

  • Foster a respectful and positive environment in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the dental or orthodontic field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in customer training or onboarding.

  • Training & Communication Skills

  • Proven success in delivering engaging training sessions in both virtual and in-person formats.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills for audiences of all sizes.

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, accessible manner.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.

  • Customer Service & Interpersonal Skills

  • Friendly, outgoing personality with a strong customer service orientation.

  • Skilled at creating a positive and supportive learning environment.

  • Uses feedback and data to make informed decisions and improve outcomes.

  • Technical & Organizational Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong leadership and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner with little supervision.

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Dental/Orthodontic office experience is highly preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of Dolphin practice management system.

  • Experience with a Learning Management System.

  • Experience training adult learners

  • Experience with remote engagement tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, and experience conducting virtual presentations

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

  • Operating a computer or other office devices for most of the workday

  • May occasionally need to move packages up to 10 pounds such as office supplies or equipment

  • Must be able to communicate with others in person, over the phone, and in writing. 

  • Must be able to understand and effectively exchange accurate information with others such as coworkers, customers, and vendors

  • Must be able to read and interpret various electronic and written documents.

Environmental Factors

  • Must have reliable home internet with enough bandwidth for video conferencing.

  • This position is in an office environment in which team members occupy desks in assigned areas or at meeting/collaboration spaces within the building.

  • The building’s primary work areas consist of desks, chairs, computers and other office equipment and devices for professional services.

Travel and On-call

  • Remote position with up to 50% travel for customer trainings, events, or meetings when required

  • Occasional after hours and weekends may be needed


The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $57,800.00 - $70,700.00
