Area Operations Manager

The Area Operations Manager will lead and direct multiple locations in all operations in assigned region. This position will be responsible for implementing initiatives to meet company goals, ensuring locations are meeting operational KPI’s, customer experience, optimized costs, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Leadership
Develops annual operational budgets for assigned Region. Participate in development of annual PLSI business plan
Communicates corporate strategies and quality objectives (KPIs) to the Operations Managers in assigned Region and monitor performance
Recruits & develops direct reports in leadership and management skills, as well as
Support Operations Managers in achieving their location goals
Establishes and monitors assigned Region's operational performance on a daily and weekly basis, implementing action plans to correct operational deficiencies as required;
Participates in contract negotiations, which include transportation, material handling, and other related distribution/logistics needs
Reports FC performance measures as required by leadership
Ensures that applicable state and federal regulations are communicated to and understood by the FCs, and that FCs achieve compliance, utilizing guidance from the company's regulatory compliance resources
Acquires and maintains information on distribution industry changes to remain knowledgeable of the most current distribution methods available
Supports the company goals for continuous improvement according to the company quality management system. Ensures FCs' on-going compliance with the requirements of the QMS
Sustains an organizational culture characterized by open communication, cooperation and trust
Reviews audit results and assist in the development of action items to correct deficiencies
Acts as liaison for FC employees
Encourage the growth of all direct and indirect reports through skill development and goal setting
Hold direct reports accountable for meeting performance standards and departmental performance goals
Mentor employees, measure performance, and complete regular performance reviews.
Resolve employee issues in an effective and consistent manner
Establish and maintain relationships with both internal and external customers
Provide FC Network support when needed (may include travel)
Create a positive work environment that promotes creativity, team work and recognition.
Establish, support, promote and participate in network, facility and departmental activities designed to strengthen and improve morale, team work and improve the overall work environment
Additional functions

Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management and Distribution/Fulfillment Logistics or equivalent work experience is required
5 to 10 years in distribution operations in a leadership capacity
Must be able to read, understand, and effectively administer all company policies and procedures
Proven soft skills – analytical, problem solving, communication, interpersonal
Organized, strong attention to detail, and follow through
Demonstrated success in leadership, prioritizing and time-management
Knowledge and proficiency in systems used in daily business: warehouse management system, computer applications such Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years working in a logistics operation in a leadership capacity.
Expert knowledge of all information systems used during daily business (FC computerized order and inventory system, PC applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases)
Demonstrated ability to manage a budget and execute operations plans to meet expense goals
Experience with financial controls and the analytical skills needed to understand how the management of daily operations translates into monthly, quarterly, and annual expense lines
Familiarity with procedures for capital request, financial justification, and project administration
Working Conditions
Environmental Factors
Office and warehouse environment. The Fulfillment center is a warehouse for the storage and distribution of dental, veterinary supplies and equipment. In general, the building’s primary work area consists of pallet storage racking, roller storage and small item storage shelving. The facility may use powered conveyor systems for the transportation of products. Pallet jacks and forklifts are used for palletized products. Some positions require use of safety equipment, which is provided as needed.

Able to lift & carry up to 55 pounds
Team lift 56 to 100 pounds
Walking and standing – 20% daily
Sitting - 80% daily
Telephone use – 60% daily
Computer use – 80% daily
Travel and On-call
This position requires air and auto travel to fulfillment centers, supplier facilities and other office locations within the U.S – 50% annually.
The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $117,800.00 - $147,200.00
