Senior Design Engineer

Job Summary

Sr Design Engineer is responsible for mechanical engineering and design work, and to provide solutions for new and existing customers. This role provides support for existing products as well as developing new and innovative solutions to meet customer needs. They will continually seek out ways to improve existing products and increase profitability by reducing material and labor costs. Additionally, this position is responsible to monitor vendor quality issues and seek out ways to improve if necessary.

  • Plans, conceptualizes, and creates mechanical designs for new products

  • Analyzes current engineering methods and develops steps and processes to improve

  • Develops testing processes and performs testing and validation of new designs.

  • Identifies, documents, and monitors requirements for process improvements and updates around the customer experience

  • Generates working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration

  • Performs engineering calculation in support of design work

  • Creates and reviews technical drawings, plans, and specifications using software

  • Establishes a framework for necessary inputs from key stakeholders and facilitates their collaboration

  • Performs detailed documentation to track project development and design process

  • Ensures project timeline is met and stays within budget

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Minimum of five (5) years in an engineering position

  • Exceptional mathematical and logic skills, including ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and

  • Exceptional proficiency with engineering concepts, including problem-solving abilities using logic and reason

  • Demonstrated experience designing mechanical systems and products, with specific focus on plastics molding of all types, sheet metal design, and casting

  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCad, or related

  • Experience with software engineering, customer experience, and design architecture

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written formats, including strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization

  • Must maintain a valid state driver’s license and driving record in compliance with Company policy

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

  • Operating a computer and/or other office devices frequently

  • May occasionally need to move items weighing up to 60 pounds

  • Must be able to communicate with others in person, over the phone, and in writing

  • Must be able to understand and effectively exchange accurate information with key stakeholders, including coworkers, customers, and vendors

  • Must be able to read and interpret various electronic and written documents.

Environmental Factors

  • This position primarily works in a production/warehouse environment where items are produced, and inventory is held. There is also an office environment in which team members occupy desks in assigned areas or at meeting/collaboration spaces within the building.

  • 70% office

  • 20% on production floor

  • 10% other light related duties

Travel and On-call

·Occasionally, as needed


The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills. $94,100.00 - $117,700.00
